Gasp!

Funny thing :D! I was about to make a game exactly like this (but with 4 buttons) and submit it to the Rock Out competition xD! (I didn't because Coolio asked to collab on the Music Mania thing and I figured, I already submitted in too many.)

Several things...
1) The easiest song is so hard. Using the mouse to "strum" is a great idea except the problem is, it's not a common idea. In my opinion, you should've made an easier song to start out with. I got up to 9% and failed xD!
2) When you go to the instructions in the menu and go back to the menu, the song begins to play twice. You probably would've noticed this if you tried to find for glitches after you were done.
3) More responses, perhaps. I would've appreciated it more if it had some "Hit!" or some "Miss..." signal after you hit or miss a note. I can't see the difference between either of them (they both just reach the line and shrink). Either that or I've been missing the whole time...

Well, that's all I can think of right now. And like the person under me, this should not be blammed.

OMG, SO TRUE!!!

Ha! I had fun with this thing :P.
I typed in XceeD in the Newgrounds thing and it gave me: "Neutral Aura Programmer". LMAO, SOOOOOOO TRUE!
5 just for that :D!

Amazing!

This is just amazing! No words can describe it! Just go check it out and you'll know what I mean!

To Authors: Using Flash 9, you can make it so that the Radio has visualizations which could add a great deal. Use the computerSpectrum(). Either way, this is just amazing!

This isn't advanced stuff at all :/...

Here's a list of problems:
- Clicking next when the sound is still playing doesn't stop the sound. Perhaps you should use sound.stop() if it was done in actionscript.
- random(n) gives [0,n-1] (a number from 0 to n-1, including the ends). That means random(101) gives 0 back too. Try random(1) and you'll see what I mean... Also, you should introduce Math.random().
- Your sprite movie's "Just click here!" doesn't work.
- This is not advanced stuff at all... At MOST, Beginners...

wolfinator-x responds:

It'll get fixed, the link in the sprites section; it is linked to Mario Phite. I only know how to do stopAllSounds(); but if I do it on the next frame, it'll stop the other sound.

Wow, your first game? Nice!

This is a VERY good first submission... Compared to the games I used to make, this is superb! I liked the fact that you can curve the ball and all but you should make it so you can throw the ball too. Also, did you use startDrag on the slider bar? It tends to go out of sync with the mouse when you drag the mouse out of the screen and then back. I think you should use startDrag and make it snap to center with the mouse.

All in all, this game's pretty good for a first.

Good start for SFS.

This is pretty good if you just started SFS. However this looks pretty similar to one of the tutorials. It's good though, great for a start.

I just wanted to ask if I can host a game on your server xD! I use SFS too and I'm trying to make an MMO. If you let me host this on your server, I'm sure we both will benefit. You can probably learn a bit and I get hosting xD! You'll definitely be credited. Tell me what you think :D!

Hi, i am interested in your offer! Please contact me at realaldarns@hotmail.com!! Btw, thanks for the complements :)

Like bykov already said...

Okay, bykov said basically what I wanted to say already but he didn't provide you any help, only critisism...
So, here's what I'm gonna add on.
1) Delete all the movieclips after the alpha has reached 0 or else it'll lag.
2) Learn to draw movieclips from scratch using only actionscript, check the "Cursors For The Future" that I made, all coded by AS and uses duplicating "particle system." If you don't know how, check up beginFill, endFill, lineTo, lineStyle in the ActionScript Dictionary.
3) Make it so that the AS code is dynamically inputted into each movieclip. Instead of having a movieclip already made and duplicating it or having a pre-written code and stamping it into each movieclip, make it so that each code is affected by some global variable. For example, make the rotation go up by globalSpeed and make globalSpeed go up every frame.

Last, I would like to say that the current Flash MX 2004 DOES NOT SUPPORT a "particle system." You still cannot make 10,000s of them. Perhaps you can make 100 or 1000 of them, but once you make too many, the FPS will go down. However, AS3 DOES have support for it and the amount of movieclips it can handle far surpasses AS2. It probably reaches its limits at 1,000,000 movieclips.

Catjuggler responds:

Thanks a lot for the help. I have Flash 8, and was basically experimenting with a particle effect. I don't understand though: I put a removeMovieClip function after the alpha reaches zero, and it still lags! It only helped a little bit, though.

MY GOD, THIS ROCKS!

Wow, this game is so similar to the real game. I loved it. Not only did you get every little detail from the game correctly (like the coins to choose characters), you made new characters and got the maps exactly the same! You're amazing, what more do I have to say?

Each failed experiment brings us closer to a successful one. Each successful experiment brings us closer to the future.
